Don't Encourage Him

These are the sort of behaviors that are encouraged in our house.  Someone was throwing popcorn into my boots............

Oh, that's nice........

Thank you Buddy.  The inside of my boot needed licked........

And that is life at my house.

An Oldie but Goodie

Haven't posted a video lately so I thought would pull this one out of my YouTube favs.  I have never liked Pachelbel's Canon and when I saw this video, well, it was like I had found a kindred spirit.  There is another video out there along the same lines by a group called the Axis of Awesome but this one has fewer cuss words.

Bad rehearsal, good performance

After 12 years of doing programs with students one would think that I would have learned by now that the dress rehearsal is ALWAYS going to be a disaster.  ALWAYS!!!

Yet when it comes to performance time even the most frustrating child will find the halo and be the perfect angel.  After 12 years you would think I would quit driving myself insane between the rehearsal and the performance.  You would think that I would be able to sit down, relax, eat, go with the flow, but no, always a nervous wreck.

It happened last Thursday with the 4th and 5th graders.  Their program was a smashing success.  It happened today with the Kindergarten and 1st grade.  Their program was awesome.  It will happen next week with the 2nd and 3rd graders.  At some I will want to bang my head against a brick wall.  Why, oh, why must this be the cardinal rule of concerts???

A teacher friend of mine has the catchphrase "It is what it is."  I tried repeating that to myself today to help keep my sanity.  Not sure that it worked, but I'm not sure I was any sort of sane to begin with.........

Beautiful Day at the K

Since I missed Opening Day, today was my first game of the new season.  The weather was absolutely perfect.  The Royals beat the Angels and have a winning record (something that has not happened for quite a while).

We hit the stadium store and got some good deals on Greinke and DeJesus shirts as well as Greinke and Gordon bobbleheads.  One can never have enough bobbleheads.  They also had buy one hat get one 30% off so we each came home with new caps.

After the Royals posted a win, they had their Futures Game where the Omaha Stormchasers played the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.  I am still not used to the name change for Omaha.  They are still the Omaha Royals to me.  We got kicked out of the upper deck so we sat in a couple of different spots since the stadium was less crowded.  We ended up sitting out in front of the fountains which was kind of cool.  The Futures Game was supposed to go 12 innings so all the pitchers could get some work in but after 16 innings of baseball I was having trouble focusing and honestly I think I dozed off a couple of times.

The only thing better than a great day at the ballpark is a great day at the golf course.  I'm hoping for one of those to happen pretty soon as well.
